Our Story

Our journey began eight years ago on the South Coast of England, when we launched a small short-term rental management company with just one property. What started as a simple side hustle quickly evolved into a fast-growing business. Over the years, we scaled from that single listing to managing hundreds of properties, ranging from compact city apartments to luxury beachfront homes.

As the business grew, so did our team, systems, and ambitions. We refined every part of the process — from guest experience and vendor management to pricing strategy and automation — building a strong reputation and a truly efficient operation. That business became Grandeur Property Management, one of the most recognised STR operators in the region.

After nearly a decade of hard work, learning curves and successes, we sold the company in 2025 for over £1 million. That experience gave us everything: real insight into what works, what doesn’t, and how to build a short-term rental business that actually scales and sustains.

Now, through The Short-Stay Consultancy, we’re using what we learned to help others do the same.

Leigh Ashbee

Leigh is a seasoned property entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He hosted the local Property Network (PPN) event in Bournemouth and co-founded Grandeur Property Management, scaling the company from a single unit into one of the South Coast’s most successful short-term rental businesses. The business was eventually sold in a seven-figure deal. Leigh brings deep operational insight, industry know-how, and a calm, solutions-focused mentoring style that clients trust.

Taylor Norman

Taylor is the operational engine behind Grandeur’s growth and success. Over the course of eight years, he helped build and scale one of the South Coast’s leading short-term rental businesses, which was sold in a seven-figure deal. With a deep understanding of the STR landscape, Taylor has mastered the systems, tools, and tech needed to run an efficient and profitable operation. He’s also highly skilled in AI and automation, making him the go-to mentor for clients looking to modernise and streamline their businesses.

Jay Peters-Simmons

Jay brings a background in residential real estate and property development, combined with hands-on experience in the STR space. He has supported Airbnb operators directly and consulted for Grandeur during its growth, giving him a strong grasp of the short-term rental landscape. At The Short Stay Consultancy, Jay leads business operations, ensuring the systems, delivery, and client experience run at a high level. While not a direct mentor, his strategic and operational oversight is central to everything we do.
